Cape Care Coalition Holds Walkathon for Health Care Reform
The Cape Care Coalition, the citizen organization working to create Cape Care, a community-owned health care plan for Cape Cod, is sponsoring a Spring Walkathon at Cape Cod Community College on Saturday, April 25, 10:00 a.m. Funds which are raised will help support the Coalition's efforts for regional health care reform. Participants will gather at the College on Route 132 in West Barnstable, Parking Lot 2, and walk the campus perimeter. Refreshments will be served. The rain date is Sunday, April 26. For more information, call Mary Zepernick, 508-398-1023 or Candace Perry, 877-700-8070.
To bring about regional health care reform, the Coalition has proposed a bill which would enable the creation of Cape Care. The Cape Care Community Health Trust bill was introduced in the Massachusetts Legislature in January by Representative Matthew Patrick and Senator Robert O'Leary. To learn more about the Cape Care Coalition and the bill, visit the Coalition's website, www.capecare.info.
The Walkathon is an opportunity to learn more about Cape Care, meet members of the Cape Care Coalition, and lend support to many others behind this initiative. Tax deductible donations may also be made by those unable to attend the Walkathon; checks may be made out to "UHCEF (Universal Health Care Education Fund)/Cape Care" and mailed to P.O. Box 3023, Wellfleet MA 02667.
