The mission of the Cape Care Coalition is to create a regional, community-owned health care system to provide all Barnstable County residents comprehensive and affordable health care, delivered through the current and expanded network of providers.

News report on the 1/20/2010 hearing by the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Health Care Finance on the Cape Care Community Health Trust legislation.

The Cape Care Coalition thanks the 71% of voters on the Cape and the islands who supported the ballot question to establish health care as a human right by creating a single payer health insurance system that is comprehensive, cost effective and publicly provided to all residents of Massachusetts. This nonbinding question also passed overwhelmingly in every district in Massachusetts where it appeared on the ballot.

"The time has arrived to help millions of Americans living without a full measure of opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health... and [to have] protection... against the economic effects of sickness." - Harry S. Truman, September 19, 1945

The Cape Care Coalition is supported by the Cape Cod Foundation through the generosity of the Jesse and Juanita Grimes Fund for Humanitarian Services and the Jean B. Edgerly Memorial Fund; the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, Inc.; the Unitarian Universalist Fund for a Just Society; Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation; and the financial and in-kind support of many individuals, organizations, and businesses.
